Today some selected 3/4 students travelled to Beicher Park for a cricket tournament. The group were very respectful and enjoyed themselves a whole heap. Every team experienced success by winning at least one game. Well done to everyone who participated.

This morning grade 4/5 ‘s went to woodwork in the MPR. We made little wooden boats and we all had lots of fun. We learnt to use a saw, how to sand and use less glue. Early in the lesson we saw two baby birds being fed by their mother out of the window.

What was everyones favourite part of the morning?

Over the past week the class have learnt a little bit about some symbols of the Olympic Games. Citius Altius Fortius is the Olympic Motto. It is Latin for Faster Higher Stronger. We also discussed why the Olympic Rings are important to the games. Here are just a few examples of our work this week.

Assembly

Today we presented assembly for the second time this year. Ethan and Shelby did a fantastic job of hosting. The whole class also performed their “BODMAS Song” very well. Congratulations everyone!

Our class was also awarded the Library Book Borrowing Award for the first time this year with 96% of the class borrowing. Well done! We should also congratulate Mrs McCarten’s grade for winning it for 20 straight weeks before us.

What did everyone think about our song? Catchy?

Do you think you know BODMAS better now?

Posted by Mr O'Toole | Posted in Mr O'Toole's messages, Technology, Writing | Posted on May 31, 2016

Hi everyone!

This week our class signed up for the 100 word challenge. It is a weekly creative writing challenge that has participants from across the globe. Each week the 100 word challenge blog will give us a prompt. It will be our challenge to post an interesting piece of writing on our blogs and then attach a link to the 100WC blog. We will have the ability to read and comment on other students’ writing pieces, as they will read and comment on ours. Each couple of weeks the 100WC blog will select several interesting pieces to “Showcase” on their blog.

Today was the first time we wrote for this challenge so come visit the classes blogs and see what they wrote.

This afternoon Jack bought in his new 10 week old puppy for a visit. She was a very energetic dog, zig zagging all around the circle.
Does anyone else have a dog at home?

Class Reward!

(A hardcopy of this note will also be sent home Monday)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you know reading is an extremely important and valued skill required for education. This year our class decided on a reward system to try to get everyone to read as much as possible at home. The reward system was based around reading a required amount to earn a sticker for the class, once the class received a certain amount of stickers, they would be rewarded. We have just earned 500 stickers and are due for our major reward for the year, a class party!

If your child has read the required amounts, they will partake in the party and are asked to please bring in a plate of party food/party drink to share with the rest of the class this Wednesday the 9th of December.

Thankyou,

Mr O’Toole

Welcome to all who are reading this blog for the first time. This blog is a brand new way for Mr O’Toole’s class to share what is happening within their classroom. We will post some examples of our published writing. We can upload video or pictures of our work. We welcome positive comments and interaction with those from home, so please comment on our work. Thankyou and good luck to us!
